Physical damage to a CF card - help please.

Post by Blackbird »

I've just tried to download images from a CF card (taken on my Canon 5D IV) but it seems that the card has some physical damage that isn't visible. It fits into the CF slot on the camera without any problem but says "No Image" on the screen when I try to review the photos. It doesn't show the previously taken images images either. I've also tried it on two different card readers without any luck. It seems that the card may have been damaged when putting it into the first card reader as I can't get it to read from another CF card. (The reader is fine with SD cards). The prongs in that card reader now look as though they may be bent.

Any suggestions please how I may be able to retrieve the photos?

Andy

if there card is damaged to the point it can't be read then you may have an issue.

id suggest not using it, don't format it and seek out a recovery company that may be able to help

Thanks.

Luckily there wasn’t anything on it that I can’t manage without. It was a matter of just trying to resolve it.

Andy.
