not seen one of theses before had to check the i.d was right as it seems they are not very common ? some macro shots of

Super shots. Not that rare anymore to be honest, the literature used to have them confined to only a few locations, you could find them at the mound at Mildenhall for example.

I think they have got moved around with all the quarry works as I found a colony of them in Herefordshire about 12-15 years ago at a gravel pit and they've appeared at others since then. Saw some more by the canal at Frampton in Gloucestershire on a Marsh Sandpiper hunt several years ago as well.

Thanks for the info. as i understood it they are spreading out but was told the full wing isn't that common i've seen plenty of short wings but never a full wing
