Tramway Village at Crich

Post by iainpeden »

I had a thoroughly enjoyable morning at the Tramway Museum at Crich in Derbyshire last week. Great to see the quality of the restoration work, fun to ride an old tram, pleasant woodland walk and all topped off with a cooling pint of local ale.

Great pictures, we used to go as kids all the time and found it quite boring, but I went a couple of years ago as a new parent and found it absolutely brilliant.
As you say the standard of the restorations is incredible and the reconstructed buildings there are quite a sight, and to add to that the entrance costs and food costs are reasonable.

Nice to see the English Electric “Boat” in Blackpool livery.

My friend drove Fred Dibnah up and down Blackpool Prom for a couple of hours filming for TV in the 1980s in one of those. He was convinced he was going to be a TV star. They used a 15 second clip of his hand moving the power lever. He was gutted !
