That's a shame - see you in June!
Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
Does anyone have any updates / photos on the Beverley as things are now?

From that statement I would like to think the Museum may have acquired it for free to remedy the situation the previous owner generated?
Hopefully the Airframe-survey confirms it's worth £60K + to relocate it, rather than dealing with multiple one by one metre cubes.

I wish the museum well, it would be wonderful to see the last Beverley saved and moved to Solway, however 60 grand in these hard times is not going to be easy to find from donations. We only have to look at how little was raised to move the Sea Vixen from VL to Bournemouth recently to see that.
Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
Now that the cat's out of the bag... I get the impression that this is a serious attempt to save the airframe and I wish them well! It will be an interesting move to Carlisle, but hopefully it will enjoy many more years there.
Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
I agree, but there seems to be a lot of positive publicity about the Beverley. It's been picked up by enthusiast sites and mainstream media. There didn't seem to be the same buzz with XP924. Also, it wasn't a unique aircraft that people remember visiting in their childhood.purple_95 wrote: ↑Wed 31 Jan 2024, 4:42 pmI wish the museum well, it would be wonderful to see the last Beverley saved and moved to Solway, however 60 grand in these hard times is not going to be easy to find from donations. The £10,000 mark has been passed...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
I'll preface by saying I HAVE donated and already raising £10k is damn impressive, but I cannot honestly see that they will raise £60,000. Historically these projects don't raise anything like that figure. My worry is that if they fall short of it, that's that and there's no contingency to add to anything raised. I asked them about this:
IMO they ought to be more transparent about that on the JG page.

I'll happily to be the first to say that I'm astonished they've hit this figure, I didn't think they could raise 5 figures for an obscure type like this let alone get over half way. There's still a long way to go and I hope there might be a fundmatching process in place at some point, but I'm a lot more encouraged now.

This, and our recent crowd funder for moving WR963 (which, shameless plug, is still running!) shows what can be achieved even in these interesting times if you go about it the right way!

I'm selling frame kits that fit Squadron Prints. 100% of profits go to various aviation charities and ventures. One of which is the Beverley relocation.

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
Sorry for the repeat plug...
...but we've been able to make a £250 donation to the Beverley appeal and two more donations of the same amount to two other causes. All through the sale of these frames.
More items coming soon but for now if you need any frames get in touch.
Many thanks, Tom

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?
Well done and congratulations to Solway. Its not a type that floats my boat but I am, however, pleased to see a historic type preserved and impressed by the well run and ultimately successful funding campaign.
Bravo to all.
