Re: Red Kites
Cracking pix Ian. The juvenile in the 3rd pic is great with the red tail tilted towards the camera.
Re: Red Kites
Thanks John i thought it was a juvenile but wasn't sure. that's one of my favorite shots from the day that one.

Re: Red Kites
Adults are pretty much all deep in moult this time of year, plus you can see the secondaries on the juvenile are pointy instead of rounded/squared off (so a saw-tooth trailing edge instead of a smooth one).

Very nice. We have one that regularly cruises over our garden in nw Essex near Stansted. Always love watching it.

Superb, Ian! I love the first one; lots of detail in the face, perfect eye and the under-wing visible. Must make a note to visit that place if I ever make it back to your part of the world.
Re: Red Kites
Thanks guys. Red kites have been a great success story in the UK we are lucky to have so many now.

Re: Red Kites
I saw one over home in South London for the first time a month ago.
Last year driving down the A34 near Didcot they were bordering on being a menace as there were so many of them - several swooping down very low across the traffic.
Lovely birds and lovely images.
