48 Hour Photo Comp: AERONAVALE

Post by Seamus »

For the next topic I want to see your French Navy images. Modern or historic, the rarer the better! Three images per person. Go!

A very tough one to narrow down to three. Paul's already posted it, but I'll have to include a Crusader too, as its simply one of my favourites.

Yet another Crusader (and I was expecting lots of Rafales - so far so wrong!), this time from the 1974 Tattoo at Greenham Common.

All from Yeovilton from me. Not particularly rare, not particularly special:

PS: @Spiny Norman: sorry to say, but there are no twin-seats Navy Rafale ... Some say that's because a Navy pilot is worth 2 Air Force guys !

OK, very difficult to narrow down to three, so I'll pick three special schemes from Landivisiau in 2008. Earlier Crusader just for fun.

Great stuff all, some lovely images that cover most of the wonderful types the French Navy have flown over the years. My top three are as follows:

Third place to Col Chibani and his Avenger, purely as I've never seen that one wearing French markings before. Lovely!

Second place to Nick's Atlantique, lovely aeroplane and a great, unusual angle.

First place to Dom and his Super Etendard. Another classic aircraft and a classic image im great light from P&V West, a shot that I wish I had!

Over to you 👏

Thanks Shaun!

I was saying to the other staffers, I'd actually forgotten I'd done arrivals in 2012 let alone up at West, I ended up there by accident as I couldnt find where to park for East before the gates opened!

Thanks for this ranking.
"Charlie's Heavy" swiss Avenger only featured these markings for the 2010-2011 seasons, for the 100th birthday of French Aéronavale.

C'mon then, what's the next one gonna be Dom?
