weathers not looking the best so i'm still debating whether to go or not, think it might be a last minute decision if it shows any sign of getting better.

The weather forecast for Sunday is currently light showers and a gentle breeze which on its own is not ideal but not too bad. I'm more concerned with the forecast for Saturday with heavy rain and the impact that could have.

Do we think the grass strip will get waterlogged? Could the event get cancelled? Also think the cars might be bogged down...

The airfield is pretty well drained after a lot of drainage works over the last 10 years but there may be puddles which could easily be avoided

Cancelled due to forecast weather conditions and waterlogged ground, according to SVAS Facebook group.

Official statement from The Shuttleworth Collection

With great regret, we are cancelling our Racing Celebration Drive-In Air Display tomorrow Sunday 4 October. The weather forecast has continued to deteriorate and the conditions on our grass paddocks and taxiways are very sodden. The ground conditions may be unsafe for the vehicles and the wind conditions will limit almost all the flying. Ticket holders will be refunded the full price of their tickets and we hope to have a more successful event next year. Shuttleworth will be open tomorrow as a visitor attraction with its normal entry conditions.

Even though I had been expecting that announcement after all the rain we have had, I'm still disappointed.

And so ends a very curious airshow season. Oh well, let us hope May 2021 brings better news for us all.

Drat, this will be the first year in nearly 50 years that I will not have visited an airshow of any type what
so ever. Very disappointed.

As far as I am aware the Showcase Day at IWM Duxford on October 10th has not (yet) been cancelled and includes a line up which would not disgrace many smaller shows in a normal year so no, the season is not yet (officially) over.

I do share the disappointment at the cancellation of Race Day; always an enjoyable day....
nothing is confirmed at a show until its u/c hits the tarmac or it is running in for its display.....

Technically showcase days are not airshows although they effectively are!

The man from the CAA has been there and approved it and he says yes it's not an air show.

That does not agree with the published regulations. Whether there is or is not a difference between "an air show" and "a flying display" is probably a matter for a lawyer; but as far as CAP 403 (and therefore the law) is concerned, the same regulations apply.
CAP 403.3.1 wrote:
a) Flying Display - Any flying activity deliberately performed for the purpose of
providing an exhibition or entertainment at an advertised event open to the public.
(Article 255 of the ANO)

Then report it to the man from the CAA. He's the one who said yes.
