48 Hour Photo Comp - Maritime Patrol Aircraft

Post by SamP »

Maritime Patrol Aircraft; up to 3 of your best images and/or rarest catches. 48 hours on the clock, the older the airframe the better!

I'll kick things off with the new kid on the block

Another good comp theme. Very difficult to narrow down.

Pondered whether Trackers, or Alizes, were to be included, but reckoned they were attack aircraft. So, long-duration patrol aircraft it was.

Nice theme Sam, lots of unusual types posted which is great to see! :clap_tone2:

Starting with an unusual MPA, the Vulcanair P-68 Observer. Seven of these aircraft are used by the Chilean Navy to patrol the country's coastline, support search-and-rescue operations and also for light transport duties. It is seen here as part of a SAR role-demonstration performed at FIDAE 2018, dropping a lift-raft.

Secondly, a spirited demonstration from a P-8A Poseidon at the Dubai Airshow in 2013 allowed me to capture this topside angle. Would like a similar shot of the new British machines some day...
Image

Finally, going back in time to the mighty Avro Shackleton. Although this example at Long Marsden airfield shot in 2015 looking very sorry for itself.

We're doing well, we've got a variety of types including an air early warning aircraft, two search and rescue types, a couple of torpedo bombers, a weather surveillance one and an intelligence gathering machine, lets hope nobody notices. :zipper_mouth: :see_no_evil:

Was also tempted to go for Alizé or TBM Avenger.

So let's stick to patrol aircraft:

Sorry for that - corrected !
PZL is an aircraft maker name for me, I was mislead by the engine label.
