48 Hour Photo Comp: Ladies
A quite open theme for you this time.
Aviation may look like a man's world ; let's prove the opposite !
3 entries maximum as usual.
Attention will be given to creativity and originality. A bit of context and explanation on entries is appreciated.
For inspiration (but I am sure you will go beyond these "clichés"):

This one needs a bit of explanation: Lockheed 12 Electra Junior, at La Ferté 2015, evocating Amelia Earhart. At the controls, you can see Catherine Maunoury (10 times France female champion and twice World champion), who was also at the head of Le Bourget Air & Space Museum at this time:

I Hope you dont mind the change here. Last night I remembered that The Patrouille de France made history in 2010. Commandant Virginie Guyot became the first female leader of the any aerobatic team.
This was take at RIAT in 2010 with Comandant Guyot in aircraft number 1

This is in tribute to all the ladies of the ATA. Brave seasoned pilots in their own right who delivered aircraft from factories to their RAF Bases ready for action. They flew everything from Tiger Moths, Hurricaines, spitfires, to the heavy bombers like the Lancaster and Halifax. Here in conversation with The Mossies new owner are 2 ATA pilots waiting for their lift back.

Finally The Red Arrows made history in he same year, Flight lieutenant Kirstie Moore became one the Red Arrows. She Flew in Red9, After leaving the Reds early (who can blame her after John Egging and Sean Cunningham both lost their lives ) she now flies with the Blades I'm lead to Believe.

Chief of The Royal Norwegian Air Force, Major General Tonje Skinnarland, visited North Weald with members of 331 and 332 Squadrons in July 2019 to mark the 75th anniversry of the founding of the Royal Norwegian Air Force in November 1944.
Before lunch at The Squadron's Norwegian WIng the General had a look at Aero Legends' Spitfire IX TD314 with Tony Parkinson.

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Ladies
Starting off an old friend of mine, who was at time one of the Staff Cadets at 8 AEF. She's now serving as a Commissioned Officer in the Army.
Keeping on an Army theme... this shot from 2012 with Captain Lillie Mead flying the Apache display routine, seen here at RAF Cosford.
And finishing on, with an obvious/cliché choice. This shot from when Breitling still sponsored the Aerosuperbatics Wingwalkers and they participated at AIR14 in Payerne.

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Ladies
Nice theme. Was just going to stick three random photos in and claimed they qualified by virtue of being taken by a lady (although I know my friends might have something to say about that) but thought I I'd try and stick with the spirit of the competition.

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Ladies
Sorry for the delay, I was travelling for work today.
First of all, thank you for all your magnificent entries.
Special mention to Sarah, one of the few (or is she the only ?) lady among us gentlemen.
I had to make a difficult choice, and, with the help of Madam Chibani herself, here are our top 3:
3rd place goes to SuffolkBlue / Chris Day for his wartime poster re-creation. I love the black and white vintage processing and especially the gaze of the model, parallel with the propeller hub, giving an inspirational movement to the picture.
2nd place goes to MUSTANG, for his portrait of Carolyn Grace and her "Grace Spitifre", a nice hommage to her courage and spirit.
1rst place goes to Peter R, for the luminous smile of this lady pilot, proudly walking from her aircraft, the joy of flying obviously enlightening her face. Perfect composition and depth of field use. The humorous detail of the (man) mechanic bending over the cockpit achieved to convince me to select this picture as the winner.
Up to you, Peter !
