I took a rash decision to dash over to Birmingham Airport on Wednesday afternoon as an An-74 was due to arrive at 2pm. It eventually arrived shortly after 3pm to my delight as it meant I didn't have to rush to get there so much! I was really glad I went, it was my first spotting trip of the year!! A shame the weather was naff but still good to see something different and I don't think I've ever seen an An-74 before (other than in the F-117A Amiga game from the early 90's!)

'An' unusual visitor to BHX this week
Re: 'An' unusual visitor to BHX this week
Cool catch! It always amazes me how not flat a lot of runways are. I guess it's by design

Great spot to shoot the Antonov there Ian, you definitely got its best angle. Rare beast too.
The runway does look very wobbly indeed with that compressed perspective doesn't it.

Thanks. I'd not been to that particular spot before so I was pleased with how elevated you are above the runway. There are some quite spectacular videos on Youtube from the 'Flugsnug' channel I think (?), there are some landings in bad weather with a crosswind adding to the mix, landings accenuated somewhat by the undulating appearance of the runway
