48 Hour Photo Comp: Wings and Wheels!
48 Hour Photo Comp: Wings and Wheels!
Hello all!
I've tried to pick something quite open here, so the only requirements are that both aircraft, and the wheel, must factor into the image.
It could be as simple as an aircraft on approach, a combination of vehicle and aircraft, or creative crops of landing gear. It's open to interpretation so go nuts!
Three entries as per usual, and I'll return at 1800 on Friday to judge!
Some examples below:

Have fun!

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Wings and Wheels!
Another good comp to get digging into the archives for. (Turned into a Cold War mini-theme for some reason.) Anyhoo, on with the line-up.
Vulcan with its wheels stuck in the down position, departing Prestwick. It flew all the way back to base with them like this.
Tu-95 and its long nose undercarriage. (Or is it tall?) With bonus Il-76.
Phantom under Flanker with its FOD-avoidance nose-wheel.

And, no cheating, an entry for Col. Chibani jr (10 years old), who walks on the steps of his father (so far !), @ La Ferté 2019:

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Wings and Wheels!
This was very difficult to judge in the end. Many could have been worthy winners and there were no entries that I didn't like!
Some honorable mentions:
Col. Chibani jr - I love the composition and dynamism of this one!
Peter345 - DH88 & Sopwith Camel - Lovely atmospheric photograph.
Andyph - The ski landing - an interesting and unique take on the theme, a subject (snow landings) that I don't see photographed too often!
Wrexham Mackem - Number 3 - the flying circus. A different angle on an airshow classic.
Draken - Taking your Hornet for a walk - certainly looks like an interesting job!
And onto the winners:
3) Shorsley - #3 - the VAAC Harrier. I love the colours here - fantastic contrast between red, white and blue.
2) Seamus - #1 - Sea King HC4s. What a great capture of a sorely missed helicopter, doing what it does best.
1) Jalfrezi - #1 - Mew Gull & Midget Roadster. What can I say? It's a cracker! Lovely contrast and translates the charisma of both machines brilliantly.
Over to you!

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp: Wings and Wheels!
Thanks Jake! Definitely a difficult comp to judge, due to the many different takes on the wings and wheels theme and the high calibre of the entries.G-CVIX wrote: ↑Fri 13 Nov 2020, 7:17 pmThis was very difficult to judge in the end.
