Mosquito prop DD727 Shepton Mallet 12/4/43

Post by NatJames »

Hi
I've been researching the circumstances regarding the crash of Mosquito DD727 (264 Sqdn) that hit a tree and crashed into a field near Shepton Mallet shortly after taking off from RAF Colerne on an operational sortie over France. The crash killed both crew including my relation, Fl/Off Arthur L. Barge. I posted this on the Flypast Forum 2 years ago and about a year ago received a reply from a RobMC (username) who sent a photo of a bent prop recovered from the crash. I've not been able to contact him since - does anyone know if he's on this forum?! I'd love to know how he came across it.

Having discovered the location of the crash site through MOD records, I visited it yesterday and laid a wreath with the landowners. There's more details of the crash here http://beaconhillsociety.org.uk/history ... world-war/

Cheers
