48 Hour Photo Comp: Monochrome

Post by jalfrezi »

OK, this may be a little outside the comfort zone for some, but I'm looking for your best monochrome aviation photographs. These can be close-ups or wide angle shots and don't have to specifically be of an aircraft - but it has to be aviation related. I will allow selective colour photos if the photo is predominantly one colour. Sepia toning, etc is also allowed.

As usual, maximum of 3 pics per entry. Good luck!

EDIT: I've changed the title to avoid confusion.

Difficult to narrow it down to three as I do like a bit of black and white photography:

Thanks to all those that entered, I did wonder if many would enter this comp as we don't usually see many monochrome shots on the forum. As usual, the standards are high and choosing a winner is not an easy task!

Special mentions to:
Sarah for her Just Jane shot
Andrew's Piper shot
TJJ's re-enactor photo
PeterR's Eagle shot

It was very difficult to separate my top three, but there has to be a winner and so my top three are:

3rd: Draken's DC-3 from below - really nice contrast and an unusual perspective
2nd: Seamus' Vixen shot - nice head-on viewpoint and the contrast really shows off the gloss finish
1st: LNStrikeEagle's Sea Fury shot which fills the frame nicely and also shows off the gloss finish well

Over to you Dan!

Just a Thought. Maybe exclude mods from this. While the pics are amazing (Dan's is fantastic). It does seem like pass the parcel.
