Yet another fun idea for a theme. 3 from me:

First one of my favourites at RIAT 2015 - open canopy and and open 'bonnet'!

I like this one because there's all sorts of stuff in it, sticking out in all sorts of directions, so the addition of the mess in the background sort of adds to it (at least that's my excuse!)

And then an opened up T.2 - it was a shame you couldn't have a look inside

Not sure if this counts, but what a lovely workhorse, Farnborough 1994

Plenty of open canopies, Mollis Switzerland 1999
Image19991021 Mollis = F-5E Flightline (1) by Melvin Furster, on Flickr

Last one is a special one for me. XT914 is the only RAF Phantom I ever saw flying, it was at a beach airshow at Scheveningen the Netherlands in June 1992.
Almost 28 years later I met her again at Wattisham, this hobby is sometimes somewhat romantic and emotional...
The weather played ball and I love the light streak in the sky above the nose, might be an airliner or a genuine meteor, don't know.

Great minds think alike. John Peters must have been duty static pilot for season 1991! Here he is with 'Garfield' at Leuchars in September.

Another fine competition to force a look through the old collection.

There's something very bad-ass about a combat jet taxying out with the canopy open, something that's now impossible in lot of modern fighter aircraft. This Hellenic Phantom is seen enroute to the runway for the morning launch at Tactical Weapons Meet 2017.
Image

Next time you watch a warbird pilot taxy their aircraft, you'll notice the "Gangster Lean" out of the cockpit, now I've highlighted it. Peter Teichman used the rock the look very well.
Image

Finally, another fast-jet. Just because the F-5E Tiger II is just a cool looking machine, from any angle, even with the canopy open.

The canopy you can see is apparently from an F-105 and on backwards!
