Hobbyboss 1/48 F-84F

Post by DerekF »

Completing my Thunderbirds collection in 1/48, here is the Hobbyboss F-84F Thunderstreak. Not bad at all, typical of modern kits. Finished with the Warbirds decal sheet which was not without a few bits cracking and failing to adhere well. Anyway, here it is.

Here's a photo of the complete Thunderbirds collection in 1/48 scale.

Stunning collection! Is the F16 out of chronological order just so its not hidden behind the mighty Phantom?

Incidentally I meant to remark on the Thunderstreak - I've always thought it a good-looking aeroplane that seems to get very little attention, I don't know why. Nice to see one done and a very nice job!

Are you going for the Thunderbird transports as the 2nd half of the project?

What a line up! Very nice builds all of them, not just the Thunder Birds but over the last almost year. I don't get a chance to log in and comment much but I do see them and they are getting better and better all the time.

Derek, lovely work but you are missing the F-105.

They only did six displays on the F-105, but they did do six displays, yes.

Its a very very nice collection Derek, I'm admiring that line-up very much.

Missing but not forgotten. There is no 1/48 F-105B.There are Thunderbirds decals available which fit the Monogram F-105D. Unfortunately the Thunderbirds flew the F-105B which has a shorter nose.

Great line-up, beautifully done. There's something about those silver ones.

A F-105 in a display team beggars belief. What a sight and sound that must have been.

It was a bit of a disaster. They had to make loads of mods to try to adapt it to close formation work, then lost one in a fatal accident. They went back to the F-100 and never returned to the F-105. Anyone who caught one of those six public displays got a collector's item!

Have you considered this or tried to get it:

Seems a shame to leave the Thud out if you could possibly get the right variant sorted!
