48 Hours Photo Competition - Two of the same but different
Thinking caps on for this one guys and girls. I'm looking for a pair of winning photos of the same aircraft but it must look different in each of the pics. So plenty of warbirds to choose from if you want an easy way out or better still if you can find something in service and then in private hands.
Two pairs each as entries, so four photos maximum.

English Electric Canberra PR9, XH134, seen at the Royal International Air Tattoo 2013. The static display appearance came as a complete surprise to many, with the aircraft only completing its first flight post-restoration in the week prior. The aircraft still wearing the colours of 39 Squadron as it wore the day it was retired from Royal Air Force service in July 2006. But change was on the horizon...
Fast forward 13 months, and XH134 is seen performing at the Dawlish Airshow, wearing new silver colour scheme of the (in my opinion unfortunately named) "Mid Air Squadron". The jet did look fabulous in silver, as did their Hawker Hunters, but I'm sure many enthusiasts would have rather it remained in the authentic hemp colour scheme.
In the past 7 years, RAF Cosford's resident Harrier GR3, XZ991, has worn a variety of different squadron markings and been equipped with a different load-out for each public appearance it made, to keep things fresh and exciting. In 2014, the aircraft was equipped to represent a Harrier GR3 as deployed to the Falklands in 1982 with refuelling probe added and red tail code added, amongst other small cosmetic adjustments.
In 2016, the jet underwent it's most radical of appearance changes, with white paint 'temporarily' added over the green sections of camouflage pattern to replicate a jet deployed to Norway. Back in the day, weeks of flying in the harsh Artic climate meant that the paint was soften over the deployment and was easy to remove when the aircraft return to the UK. That sadly didn't repeat itself with a jet which just sat around and the white paint stayed for much longer than expected. In fact this shot was taken in May 2018, when it took days of hard graft with pressure washers and brushes to remove the white paint to get the jet showing its true green/grey camouflage ready for the RAF100 event in June.

Andy I'm pretty the Dak is Farnborough's machine - RAE!!!! not them lazy buggers at A+AEE - Can't remember they had one?
The Dak was used for lots of different trails but also as a ferry to the RAE out stations quite regularly.
I always missed it and went on the Navaho's (which normally acted as ferry)
There was a standard route that I can't remember but something like Farnborough - West Freugh - Warton - Llanbedr- Aberporth- Boscombe - Farnborough on summat like Tuesday and Thursdays.
Maybe Benbecular too?
Happy Days

Re: 48 Hours Photo Competition - Two of the same but different
Good comp idea. After a bit of searching and thinking, came up with two aircraft.
Phantom XV574 of 111 Squadron
Firstly at Greenham Common in 1983 in the full green/grey camouflage scheme.
Then a few years later, in the Barley etc grey with a traditional 111 flourish.
Vulcan XH558
In military use (1991).
In civilian hands 17 years later.

Thanks to everyone who entered, a tricky comp to enter by the seems and also to judge, I do like the KDC-10 in the snow and Norman picking my all time favourite RAF Phantom. In the end it came down to the Colonel's Avengers - both lovely and Tomasz's ALCAs, the super exposure on the RAF special just winning the day.
So over to Tomasz for the next round.

Arrrrgh! So close to the finish!
Thanks capercaillie for putting me on the podium.
I have also in-flight shots of the then "long-nosed" Blenheim, but too far from Forum standards I believe (and surely from Competition standards).
It was still my manual focus days.

Re: 48 Hours Photo Competition - Two of the same but different
That is correct, the Dak used to land on the cross runway coming in over Cove Juniors where I was looking out of the window at its Transport Command scheme and incorrect serial "KG661". When it was discovered that was wrong (I think the original KG661 was lost during the Berlin Airlift) there was consternation about what hours this unknown airframe might have racked up in its original identity. The aircraft received a full body scan and the new serial ZA947, as well as the Ripple paintwork. Any or all of this may be urban myth - I was young then......Andyph wrote: ↑Mon 30 Nov 2020, 6:17 amBlackbird wrote: ↑Sun 29 Nov 2020, 7:27 pmZA947

Re: 48 Hours Photo Competition - Two of the same but different
According to the BBMF's official souvenir guide, ZA947 was in reality numbered 661 with the RCAF and served with them for a number of years. She then came to Europe post-war, still with the RCAF, but at some point was absorbed into the UK military and somehow became KG661.
The real KG661 was written-off in a take-off accident at RAF Crosby on Eden (now Carlisle Airport) in 1944.
