Musée de l'Air

Post by nuuumannn »

Hi Guys, last year on my way through to Normandy for the 75 anniversary celebrations, our tour party stopped at Le Bourget and the Musée de l'Air. It had been awhile since I had been and I was disappointed to see the Pioneer hall is still not finished. Nonetheless, an historic collection. A few highlights and a link to more at the bottom.

The statue outside the museum.

A great set of photos from (another) museum where photography is not easy 👏👏. I just loved the DC-8 displayed outside.

Great to see the collection has not been massivley tinkered with since my visits (1985-2002). Nice to see a traditional museum that hasn't been taken over by pandering to the yoof! Skyraider looks lovely, nice set of photos.

Looks great! Never been. Great to have the two Concordes preserved together.

What delicious gems lurk in the Pioneer Hall? Hopefully they will get that sorted soon.

IIRC the Pioneer Hall has been open for some time, there was an article in Aeroplane or Flypast about it recently :)

it's well worth it! went a couple of weeks ago the Pioneers hall is now complete. Apart from the Mirage Rafale and Concordes I'd never seen any of the French aircraft before. I especially liked the Dassault Mercure a real rarity. France is definitely up there with the UK in terms of their historic home grown industry.
