Mach2 1/72 B-45 Tornado

Post by DerekF »

This was a bit of a challenge and it hasn't turned out great but frankly better than expected. Interesting aeroplane though.

It used more filler than glue in places and required a lot of weight to keep it in its wheels. Sprayed in Vallejo acrylics and using a Caracal decal sheet, here it is.

I googled this and found it a historically significant type with a bunch of firsts to its name. A worthy subject shown to advantage even if it was a struggle!

In the late 1950s I lived quite near to RAF Burtonwood and the B45s were regular visitors to the base, seem to remember that they were very smokey on take-off. Robin.

Nice build Derek, worth persevering with!

Worth remembering that the B45 was also an RAF type for a short time, a small number were painted in RAF colours and flown by RAF crews for Operation Jiu Jitsu.

The accounts of that are proper hair-raising stuff!
