Too valuable to fly as it’s unique. Look what happened to the Northrop N-9. Same for the Comet at Shuttleworth. (Finds hard hat and hides under stairs)

I thought I'd give people an update on the Desford's return to flight. I'd planned to write an article about all this for Aeroplane when the aircraft had been issued with its permit to fly, but things have changed slightly over the past few days(!).

The Desford has flown on nine occasions since making its first post-restoration flight - prior to this it had last flown in July 1978 and its last display was flown in July 1976. The aircraft is required to complete ten hours of test flying before being issued a permit to fly, it currently holds a valid permit to test and is now 55mins away from completing the required ten hours. It was last ground run this afternoon and would have flown had there been sufficient daylight.

Any questions?
