As a wild guess , do American carriers carry so many aircraft that they have to keep them on deck most , if not all, ofthe time - whereas HMS QE could easily accommodate all the F35B it sailed with inside in the hangar deck and only line them up on top when a photo opportunity or a “show off” was needed on visits.
From Wiki:
Nimitz-class aircraft carrier

An embarked carrier air wing consisting of up to around 90 aircraft is normally deployed on board.

Good points. Perhaps that’s the difference.

Anybody else think the image of F-35 looks "photoshopped"
Surely an aircraft would not float after coming off the deck ?
We lost 2 harriers in the 90's. The RN one sank, the RAF floated. Go figure.

Since they are looking for it on the bottom, it didn't float very long, but at the end of a sortie the tanks are going to be principally air, which would help to keep it up for a while.

Fascinating. The view from the forward-facing camera shows a mighty splash off the end of the angled deck and then a huge plume of water slaps across the inboard corner of the angled deck: I wouldn't like to have been hit by it, with a risk of being washed off the ship. I hope nobody's station is there - and that nobody felt disposed to run towards that side of the ship to see the aircraft.

I think the ‘huge plume of water’ is the firefighters reacting instantly and foaming the deck where the burning jet had just passed by

"Ensign and four chiefs charged for leaking F-35 crash video

By Geoff Ziezulewicz
Navy Times

February 18, 2022

A Navy officer and four senior enlisted leaders are facing non-judicial punishment in connection to the leak of shipboard video footage showing the harrowing January 24 crash of an F-35C Lightning II jet on the deck of the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson while the ship was deployed to the South China Sea.

The video shows the jet hitting the deck, catching fire, and then sliding the length of the carrier before falling into the sea.

A Navy ensign, a senior chief, and three chiefs have all been charged with failure to obey an order under Article 92 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Naval Air Forces spokesman Cmdr. Zach Harrell declined to identify the accused or confirm where their cases are in the legal process.

While the investigation into the leaked video is complete, the investigation into the crash remains ongoing, Harrell said.

The Navy has yet to salvage the wreckage. Seven sailors were injured in the mishap, including the pilot, who ejected.

“We remain grateful to the highly-trained Sailors aboard Carl Vinson who immediately responded to ensure that the pilot was recovered from the water, all injured personnel were cared for, and [the] flight deck was cleared and re-set for operations,” Harrell said in a statement. “After a short pause in accordance with safety procedures, the rapid response from the crew enabled flight operations [to] resume with minimal impact to mission requirements.”

U.S. Naval Institute News first reported the charges.

Navy Times’ sister news site, Defense News, reported this week (https://tinyurl.com/42xkrk9e) that the crash severed all four of the arresting
cables on Vinson’s deck, which are used to catch and stop landing jets.

Vinson’s crew had the deck cleared and ready to resume launches and landings within 45 minutes, Defense News reported."
