Topic of the week #3: Mirage 2000

Post by jalfrezi »

One of my favourite aircraft, I went over to Europe in September with my main purpose to catch the Gusto and Maraud Fox tactical demos. This comp is open to any variant of the 2000, so show me 5 of your best.

Great aircraft and we've been treated to many wonderful displays from company aircraft at Farnborough and the French air Force since their UK debut at Air Fete in 1987, flying the B, C, D and N variants for us, lets hope they can supply some -5s to complete the set. Would be nice to get a UAE display over here in the future.

Some overseas shots of some special schemes plus my favourite Lafayette N from RIAT.

One of the most stylish fighters ever made, reflected in a bevvy of excellent images so far.

Some (very) oldies.

1980 Farnborough. (The French not only know how to design beautiful fighter jets, they are pretty good at coming up with elegant paint schemes too). Sadly captured on a 110 film camera!

A classic jet in my eyes as well. Lucky to have seen the French examples in such large numbers at RAF Waddington utilizing the ACMI range.

Decision time. I enjoyed looking through these and it was great to see some shots of the prototypes. As usual it was tough to pick a winner with quite a few potential winners, however, I've gone for Pete's shot of the Mirage topside at Zaragoza.

Over to you, Pete.

Some great ones (too many camouflage! - the light blue fighters are the best-looking, in my humble opinion). Amongst my picks are Rebel14's head-on collective taxying shot and DeanW's shot with Mont Ventoux is a photo I wanted but missed by a matter of minutes on a very quick detour via Orange.

I agree with you on the schemes but nearly all my digital shots are camo and it will be some time yet before I can devote a lot of effort to digitising older stuff. Needs must!
