Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Naybe a silly question, are Navy wings considered Military or are they civilian, I don't know if they are a branch of the Navy lol. I know FNHT was the Navy but not sure about Navy wings.
Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Navy Wings is civilian, but they are based at Yeovilton, in the same hangar where FNHT was based.
Disclaimer: this might be wrong...
From their website:
"The Fly Navy Heritage Trust is the charity behind Navy Wings, working to preserve Britain’s great naval aviation heritage. It relies on public donations to support its work in maintaining, presenting and flying an unrivalled collection of historic naval aircraft."
Interestingly, FNHT is registered by the Gambling Commission - I presume because they have a regular fundraising lottery?

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
It might be for the wagers of whether the aircraft actually survive the whole season in one piece.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Thanks, I wasn't too sure if it should have gone in Civilian or Military on the front page list. I put it in Civilian.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
That is a nice add to the flying display.
Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
That’s quite neat. Haven’t seen it in these colours yet. Hopefully the Rolls Royce Spit can also be persuaded to join (unless it has already & I’ve missed it)

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Indeed, this P-51 has been such a regular at Cosford over the years since its Old Crow days, but it will be good to tick off the latest scheme, which I'm sure it won't be in for ever.
Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Website updated to include the static display items, very happy to see the OB Chinook and Pucara will be outside.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Forgive my ignorance but several airframes on todays website updated are listed as being part of the Cosford Collection, is this part of the Cosford museum or part of another organisation ?

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Part of the museum it seems
https://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/research/? ... on_period=Welcome to the collections which underpin the RAF Museum. The whole collection comprises several hundred thousand objects ranging in size from aircraft to lapel badges, and spanning more than a century of aviation history.
Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Did the French send any support aircraft to Shawbury in 2018?
Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
The “Cosford Collection” are, I think, sort of heritage aircraft that are housed at the station. So they aren’t usually accessible to the general public except on specialised visits or whatever. I think RAF Cosford give them hangarage in the interests of preservation, rather than let apprentices crawl all over them.jasonT1981 wrote: ↑Fri 20 May 2022, 3:17 pmPart of the museum it seems

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
... And a Mercedes G-Wagon on static, apparently....
Any chance of it moving to the flying programme...?

And as the smart ship grew,
In stature, grace and hue,
In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too....

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
It'll be the captured Argentinian one I'm guessing. Good to see outside, together with the other Falklands themed stuff.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
One was still the Command Sec vehicle in 1987 when I was there, though it died for lack of spares during my tour. Mercedes politely refused to supply any unless we wanted to pay for the vehicle itself, apparently when it was captured the Argentinians forgot they hadn't yet paid for it and Mercedes were left in the penniless state we see today.Wrexham Mackem wrote: ↑Fri 20 May 2022, 7:12 pmIt'll be the captured Argentinian one I'm guessing. Much more comfortable than a Land Rover!
Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Sea King, Whirlwind, Wessex and AW189 Helicopters to be set up in the up in the static park together to show the development of Search and Rescue. Nice idea.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
Cosford (via the same personal account as the other day) have said why they aren't flying. (Historic Helicopters)
I'm not overly familiar of Cosford, could they not do a Flightline walk like Duxford?Static only otherwise they would have to finish up on the flight line. This way everyone else can get a lot closer to them.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2022
We can now confirm that online tickets for the 2022 RAF Cosford Air Show (Official) cosford have sold out.
The only way to get tickets for the show on 12 June now is from The Royal Air Force Museum Midlands.
Please remember that the entry to the air show is with advance tickets only and that you can't get in on the day without one. Please do not turn up on 12 June without a ticket as you won't gain entry.
For those with a ticket, see you in three weeks!
