Duxford Diary 2022

Post by DCW »

Duxford Sunday 2nd January:

No warbird activity yet, but a few interesting visitors today. The Agusta A119 and SOCATA TBM900 are both powered by the PT-6, an engine nearing 60 years of service ! Historic ?

Duxford Friday 7th January:

Visiting today was this lovely Cub G-BSYO. Like many of its kind, it has a confused history, but is believed to have flown with these markings while serving as an artillery spotter for the Free French forces in 1944.

Some fine weather today meant the first 2022 flights from three of the Duxford fighter fleet.
First up was Hurricane V7497, followed by TFC's Wildcat. Spitfire PT462 was also busy:

Thanks for the link- the rumour mill suggests a BAe 146 is to replace her which is great if an odd exchange IMHO though it saves another airframe 👍

No ‘rumour mill’ - DAS themselves posted on statement on Facebook that they will be receiving a 32 Sqn RAF BAe146 in March, with a photograph of it. Then they removed it.

Duxford Wednesday 19th January:

The DAS Herald G-APWJ has taken up residence on the Eastern apron where dismantling will take place. DAS are committed to silence on the destination of the airframe, and likewise are required not to disclose its replacement.

The RAF have posted the following on their website
https://www.raf.mod.uk/news/articles/ex ... on-museum/

Glad to see they are preserving both of the original jets
