Hi Guys, as above, the museum has pushed some of its aircraft around and has configured the lighting in the main hall to reflect the time of day and it cycles through this every five minutes.

A-4K, the museum has done that thing of putting cardboard cutouts of people next to the aircraft like the RAF Museum did. This is Ross Ewing, who was not only an A-4 pilot but became a respected consultant on human factors in aviation in his post-air force career. It's odd seeing a cardboard cutout of someone you once met.

The lighting effect takes five minutes to cycle through and changes from bright white light through orange light at dusk to blue light for night. Kittyhawk at night.

Lovely photos Grant, thanks a lot for sharing. The head-on shots of the P-40 and Hudson are glorious!
My last visit was in 2007 so I'm well overdue a return.

Re: Air Force Museum of New Zealand
Brings back memories of my visit in 2004, when I sat on the balcony thinking how well presented the aircraft were, with the black backgrounds to some of them and the well thought out lighting.
Nice to see some from different angles now, thanks for sharing.

Great set of some well kept aircraft! My wife's family had a life-size cardboard cut out of her father in the RMAS Sergeant's Mess bar at his funeral and it was more than slightly weird. In fact at one point getting a round in I thought I'd better get John one - then I remembered why we were there....
