RIAT ‘22 wish list
RIAT ‘22 wish list
Tommy, as requested.
I’ll start with anything powered by a J-79.

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
Mention of Luftwaffe Mig-29s becomes a flogging offence under that new Tory justice bill.

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
I was hoping for Ukrainian Su24s this year, slightly more concerned now.
Can we wish for no F-35s?
Croatian MiG21s.

Wouldn’t mind the Czech Mi-24/35 Demo to return before they are gone. For the trainer theme, Greek Buckeye and T-7 Redhawk would be cool. Other than that, the usuals would be nice, it’s been a long time!

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
A long shot, and I am sure RIAT will appear on their schedule somehow, but I'd love to see the Swedish Viggen and Drakken
Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
I would love to see the Ukrainian Su-24 too but looks rather unlikely now.
A phantom in the flying display (even just a couple of passes) would be most welcome as not seen one in the air for years due to only being able to go on a Saturday.

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
Firstly it'd just be great for RIAT to return!
But it would be lovely to see...
- RCAF Cormorant (S)
- B-1B Lancer (F)
- Norwegian Sea King (F) - If they're still about in July?
- Portuguese Merlin (S)
- Mirage 2000C (F or S)
- Any F-4 Phantom (F or S)
- U2
- US Navy Super Hornet (S) - it is Top Gun release year after all!

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
Quite fancy seeing that lovely A1 skyraider based over In France (I think)
Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
Apart from all the above - the 2022 Birthday lineups - any close variant will do:
75 this year: AN2, Mig 15, F86, L749, Sycamore, Flamant, DHC2
70 this year: B52, Magister, Broussard, Pembroke, Lansen (and not much chance Tu95)
50 this year: E3 Sentry, A10 and F15

French Skyraider for sale.W1lmaluvxx wrote: ↑Mon 24 Jan 2022, 7:10 pmQuite fancy seeing that lovely A1 skyraider based over In France (I think)
Douglas AD-4N Skyraider F-AZHK is offered for sale by the team at Platinum Fighter Sales. Less than one year ago it received a new Vietnam era colourscheme, on which Scramble reported on 18 February 2021. The current owner, Christophe Brunelière, obtained his Skyraider in July 2009 but he is now disposing of it.
F-AZHK is a 1950 built AD-4N Skyraider delivered as BuNo 127002 (c/n 7802) to the US Navy. In 1961 the machine was sold to the French Armée de l’Air as 127002.
From there the Skyraider was sold to the Gabonese Presidential Guard as 127002/TR-KFS and delivered in July 1978. It returned to France in May 1992 where it was flown in the warbird circuit in French military colours with code 10-LN for years.
Both the airframe and its original Wright R-3350 26WD engine have clocked 178 hours since major overhaul. Compared with warbirds like the Spitfire and the P-51 Mustang the asking price for F-AZHK can be called modest: it is yours for only $750 thousand.

Bonkers that the B-52 is 70.Berf wrote: ↑Mon 24 Jan 2022, 7:53 pmApart from all the above - the 2022 Birthday lineups - any close variant will do:

Possibly more bonkers that the F-15 is 50

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
A non-USAF operated F-15 would be very welcome indeed... And so would the USAF of course.
To echo Boff's thoughts earlier in the thread, make the most of the European forces F-16s. I can remember some of the bruhaha a few RIATs ago about how many F-16s were in the flying display from across Europe. They will be a long time retired.
If we're going to have an F-35 - an honourable mention for the Danish. At least they have a bit of colour (small... but it's there) on theirs. Looked great in comparison with the 'LF' standards back in November.
Set piece - B1, B2, B52 formation please (save the B-21 for Edwards).

Now officially qualifies as a 'regular' at Famous Dave's - El Centro
Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
Well, NO, of course.
Why would anyone wish for less variety, less noise, less hovering...?
My wish list would be just about everything listed so far, with a special item just for me:- F-35A, B & C formation flypast.... (All fully colour-wrapped for the occasion, of course!)

In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too....

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
I’ve quietly wondered why “Vespina” did not do a photo formation with the “BlackJack” Typhoon (unless it did and I didn’t see it).
Christ, and the special Chinook and Puma! Get ‘em all in there. Chuck a Red Arrow Hawk in, too. It could be like one of those 90s set pieces. The helicopters hovering at show centre and the jets flying OTT!
Frame it in the light of Queen’s Jubilee or something.

I second that, with another vote for NO F-35s.

Re: RIAT ‘22 wish list
Why the hate on the F35? I'd love to see a full demo. Sure, it's not the Harrier but it's the most modern military jet aircraft out there that realistically could be at RIAT.
I have a feeling as time progresses the F35 argument will echo the too many F16s arguments we've heard over the years.
