FIA 2022
Re: FIA 2022
It's a Farnborough trade show so it'll be the standard fare, Airbuses and Boeing's with a smattering of current military bits that are for sale and a few bizjets!

But always nice to see the bigger stuff being thrown about and makes a change from the regular airshows.

Re: FIA 2022
Hey Folks,
I am trying to find out if there will actually be any flying displays at Farnborough 2022, either on the Public or Trade days?
I remember hearing rumours that there wouldn't be in 2020, but of course that never happened anyway. The Farnborough website does say that there WILL be flying displays, but I am not 100% sure if it's accurate or not:
https://www.farnboroughairshow.com/farn ... c-display/
My UK residence is right next to Farnborough, and I am lucky enough to have access to free trade tickets, so I've been going for at least the last 20 years and I love taking photos there (my Farnborough Gallery - https://500px.com/p/arniearup/galleries/transportation).
The problem is that I am now living and working in Madrid, Spain, so I don't want to make the trip back home only to find out that there's not going to be any actual flying happening! Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks very much for any info!
Cheers,
James

Re: FIA 2022
There are no longer public days at Farnborough, it is now trade only, Monday-Friday.
From the website, it seems like there will be flying each day, with an extended flying display on the Friday
"As the centrepiece of Farnborough Friday, the extended flying display will showcase the most advanced aircraft flying in the skies today."

Thanks Mike,
You're right, I forgot about the lack of Public days. But hopefully I should still be able to get Trade access.
The website does seem to indicate flying every day + an extended day on Friday, but I wasn't too sure if that was up-to-date or not, based on other things I'd heard.
I guess I'll just take the risk and book the trip over anyway for the Thursday and Friday, and see what happens!
Cheers

Re: FIA 2022
I contacted FIA about the Friday of the trade show, and were they allowing enthusiasts in that day, because all the ticket sales refer to trade customers only, they confirmed that friday will be accessible to non trade visitors, but those tickets are not available on the FIA website at the moment, and to keep an eye out for them to appear soon.

Re: FIA 2022
Statements of 'bigger and better' don't align with the dismal 2 Β½ hour flying display listed in all of Farnborough International's documentation for 2022...
Opening Day (Mon 18th)... 1330-1600
Trade Days (Tues 19th to Thurs 21st)...1415-1645
Prioneers of Tomorrow Day (Fri 22nd)... 1330-1600

I'm intrigued with Farnborough's play on words, is the display featuring misfolded proteins or more excitingly different petrels performing flypasts or more appropriately touch n' goes?

Can't wait to see how they commentate on a touch and go with a Fairy Prion.....capercaillie wrote: βMon 04 Apr 2022, 1:44 pmI'm intrigued with Farnborough's play on words, is the display featuring misfolded proteins or more excitingly different petrels performing flypasts or more appropriately touch n' goes?

Re: FIA 2022
Has there been any updates on the flying? Looking at the website it horrendously lacks information on aircraft that will be there.

Its a trade show. They won't formally announce anything until much nearer the show.

Chinook display team have published their display dates and have Farnborough from the 19th - 22nd.
Re: FIA 2022
As mentioned in the RIAT thread, seems the F-35 demo has a pending show on the date of Farnborough.

I am sure Embraer will be there. Could be some visiting Cargo aircraft passing through for a day or two as every time.lynothehammer wrote: βThu 03 Feb 2022, 5:28 pmBut always nice to see the bigger stuff being thrown about and makes a change from the regular airshows.
Β£54.00 isn't cheap but this is a trade show. Attendees are sent by companies/military.
Looks like the Friday will be opened to the public. Not sure if they will have "Friday specials". Anyone?
It follows RIAT I will have to see if I can manage both. I generally visit Farnborough on the Tuesday, second day.
I suppose Airbus will have the A321 XLR and Boeing will bring the B-777X for displays.
Any other?

It's on my doorstep, no long distance travel involved so anything is a bonus for me round here..CJS wrote: βSun 08 May 2022, 6:57 pmThe 'pioneers of tomorrow'lynothehammer wrote: βThu 05 May 2022, 10:26 pmChinook display team have published their display dates and have Farnborough from the 19th - 22nd.
