Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
First show in forever! Line up is fantastic with just a tinge of greedy wishful thinking and if onlys..
If only Hunters could still display (anyone remember the Blue Herons?)
If only the Sea Hawk and Sea Vixen were still flyable
If only a Sea Fury or a Swordfish could
make an appearance
If only a Cobham Falcon 20 could make a fly past….
Just a few more months of the Navy Hawk T1 so they could fly through…
I know it’s wish list stuff so before the usual suspects jump all over the post, let a man spend 5 minutes looking forward to his first show in over 2 years and reminiscing/fantasising about days gone by!

Sorry, they've been gone for a few months already. The Red Arrows are the only remaining T1 operators nowadays.disgruntled wrote: ↑Wed 15 Jun 2022, 8:40 amJust a few more months of the Navy Hawk T1 so they could fly through…
I'd add to your wish list:
David Bremner's Bristol Scout (as a Navy Wings Associate aircraft, it's surprising it hasn't been booked)
Navy 'Black Cats' Wildcat
A Merlin on static (they have sent one before, and with no Yeovilton this year, this must be the nearest to an FAA 'home' show there is in 2022)

Hi Mike
Yes sorry should have perhaps worded it better.
“If only we had had a few more months…”
Luckily work took me down to SEAHAWK about 6 weeks before the ceased ops so I did get to see them lots before the went

What happened to Richard Grace’s/AirLeasing’s prototype Fury that flew in 2017’s FlyNavy show? Is it still around?

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
It was captured last week in the Duxford thread, but I'm not sure when it last flew. Would obviously be great to see it back at Old Warden if it's fit and ready to fly.

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
Already pre booked, however as witnessed with the two previous shows, will I need to additionally book a (Covid) 5x5 box for this event?
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
No, oddly only for the evening shows. The boxes are only a car parking space anyway, you're free to wander around and stand at the crowd line if you want.Roughcutter wrote: ↑Thu 16 Jun 2022, 11:05 amAlready pre booked, however as witnessed with the two previous shows, will I need to additionally book a (Covid) 5x5 box for this event?

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
I suggested to OW that they invite the Navy Wings newly restored Wasp and Historic Helicopters Royal Navy Wessex. They have gone over the top and we now have the Wessex and no less than FOUR Wasps!!!

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
The Wessex and Gazelles have swayed it for me, so...booked!
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
Was already looking a fantastic line up but the Wessex swayed it for me.
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
Historic Helicopters Sea King added, it just keeps getting better. Just needs a Sea Fury for the icing on the cake.

Nit picking. I challenge you to tell the difference while one is roaring past at 300 mph+, the Centaurus howling away at full chat.rockfordstone wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jun 2022, 2:56 pmno sea furies left are there? there is a Fury, but not a sea fury

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
I'm certainly nit-picking but surely the Centaurus is one of the smoothest sounding engines going, with a powerful hum rather than a howl (shortly before the inevitable crashes, bangs and thumps followed by The Awful Silence as it seizes of course!)Mike wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jun 2022, 3:26 pmNit picking. Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
I have one adult ticket available, bought for a friend who has double-booked himself with dog sitting.
Bought for £38 on an individual purchase, so I can forward the details independently of other tickets.
Open to offers, otherwise it will be wasted.
