July 3rd - Fly Navy
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
If you can get to the A1m it might be easier and less hassle. M1 will be busy at the Silverstone junction

Thanks for the heads up 5944.
I have made further investigation Cambridgeshire live says
"There are likely to be delays on the A1 northbound this weekend, as roadworks close the road between St Neots and Brampton. The works, which are for reapplying road markings, are due to finish at around 5am on Monday morning"
Also of interest is that the South bound A1 is currently restricted at St Neots due to a fuel spill and emergency resurfing work. Hopefully this will be complete before tomorrow.

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
Ah, thanks, I assumed it was closed both ways. I went to just beyond RAF Wyton today and took the back roads, as I assumed it was closed both ways rather than just northbound.DOUGHNUT wrote: ↑Sat 02 Jul 2022, 6:50 pmThanks for the heads up 5944.

Sat in the queue waiting to get parked. Hope this weather sticks around

Me too. Bewildering process!rockfordstone wrote: ↑Sun 03 Jul 2022, 9:09 amSat in the queue waiting to get parked. Hope this weather sticks around
Or is it just a shambles?!
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
I’ve been in the queue for just over 35 mins so far and am at the edge of the airfield. Apparently problems with staffing in the car park I was told. I gave the bloke the benefit of my option. In short, a shambles.
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
Just about an hour to get in, no tickets checked. I would have quite happily locked the car and walked at any point.
Complete bl**dy over complicated shambles!
The Wessex and Seaking look great.
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
I can't get there until about 1pm so hopefully it will be a bit easier then!

Traffic managements abysmal
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
So no walking along or sitting at the fence up at the house end...latest load of nonsense from the management

Just arrived at 12. Drove straight in and parked! Ticket wasn't scanned though, just looked at.

Do they not post the flying programme on the chalk board near the tower any more? Anyone have a timetable?

Flying display made up for the disaster getting in for sure
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
After you get to the end of the new Alder Drive and show your ticket you're then in the 'holding pen' till the gates open at 9.30.
Why they can't just let everyone in once you've shown your ticket a hour or so earlier I just don't know.
Duxford open their gates at 8am...

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
First show since 2019 for me. I got totally fed up with it when the rain came and watched the GP in the car instead.
Sun came out for a few well-timed moments post-show so I did get the Gazelles and a Wasp departing in nice light and the trip to the far end for the Wessex starting up during the show was also rewarded with a few fleeting moments of sunlight, so I got what I went for I guess.

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
I called it a day when it started rain as I'd had a long drive down from Yorkshire, not helped by a 50 wait to get in.

Honestly enjoyed the whole flying display from the gazelles to the Corsair I just had a great afternoon and that’s what old warden is about. Felt a bit out of place walking past that pimms tent thing though

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
Anyone else notice all the comments on their social media posts about the traffic this morning have been removed?
Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
That is disgraceful - rewriting history even before the ink is dry. At least perhaps it shows that they are embarrassed. Does anyone know the email address of the Chief Exec of Shuttleworth? I'm quite happy to remind him about the shambles he/she oversaw.UKAirshowTour wrote: ↑Sun 03 Jul 2022, 8:44 pmAnyone else notice all the comments on their social media posts about the traffic this morning have been removed?

Glad I had a lie in reading this! Rocked up at 11:20 with no queue whatsoever!
Great show, shame about the weather for the wasps and the Wildcat having an issue, but otherwise a good day out.

Re: July 3rd - Fly Navy
Felt like the Shuttleworth of old, busy, display and fly in visitors.
I've been going to the shows since lockdown and not seen it that busy, we got in about 10.15 and pretty much the entire crowd line was full. I do wonder what's happened to the parking though, it just seems to have gone to total s**t.
