At least that VC-10 looks safe in those images... for now.
Now officially qualifies as a 'regular' at Famous Dave's - El Centro

Not long now until all history, first pic from last week. Yesterday just 3 left with one already in the crushing bay.

Are there any other L1011s in the UK?

Is there still one at Stanstead?

Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
Shocking.
A bit more of the UK’s heritage gone in the name of greed.
Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
An extremely depressing sight.
Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
Gone in the name of greed LOL! Err how? That the useless airframe will be recycled for other uses? There are enough around still to remember them by, Newquay, Dunsfold, Duxford, Cosford, Brooklands and one just 50m from that scrapped one above.
Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
Don't hold your breath
You mean the one that was scrapped in November last year?
Also none of the others you've mentioned were/are runners.
Doubt very much they'll be recycled, they've been ripped apart by diggers and will be sold for scrap.
Sad how Bruntingthorpe has gone from an aviation haven to this depressing site in the space of a couple of years.

Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
The greed comment was in relation to the vast majority of the airfield being swallowed up for car storage, when places like Avonmouth used to be a sea of cars and (as of a couple of weeks ago) was virtually empty!
And, as pointed out, ZD241 was a runner - are any of the other survivors (genuine question)?
Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
So sad to see this. It was fantastic to see/hear and go onboard ZD241.I fear other airframes at Brunty could go the same way eventually. Just museum VC10's left now.
Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
And the scrap will be melted down and used for something else.
"Nice pics mate" comments only! No criticism please.

ZA150 at Dunsfold was a runner, but the airfield is scheduled for redevelopment and the airframe has been sold on, allegedly to be used as a tanker again. ZA148 at Newquay has four engines and theoretically could be a runner. It needs work to get it there though.aviationanoraks wrote: ↑Thu 21 Apr 2022, 6:11 pmAnd, as pointed out, ZD241 was a runner - are any of the other survivors (genuine question)?

Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
That "useless airframe" brought a lot of happiness to people each year at Bruntingthorpe powering down the runway! Don't think we'll see a VC-10 doing that again now, or at least it's very unlikely.

No doubt some parts will make their way to this site: https://www.doors2manual.org/ (I am not affiliated with them)
Re: Bruntingthorpe Tristar chopping has begun, taken today
The remaining jets at Bruntingthorpe are safe, all stored on land under the control of David Walton. A new museum is being set up on this land and hopefully in time public ground run days (static runs only) will be taking place.
