Up in Brisbane on my way to NZ, plan was to attend the now twice postponed
Brisbane Airshow. Sadly due to the bad weather the east coast of Australia is
experiencing the show will be next weekend.
Time to kill so decided to take a two hour drive out to Oakey and visit the Army
Aviation Museum, a more exstensive collection than I expected.
In the paddock off in the distance a weather beaten Caribou in an early scheme.
A few tail draggers
Wingeels did spend a period of their service life as forward air control aeroplanes.
Auster.
This Vietnam era Birddog was built up from wrecks in an American aeroplane
dump, eventually end up in Australia as a glider tug.
Another Australian design GAF Nomad.
More soon.......

Re: Oakey Army Aviation Museum (Australia)
It may seem a little strange to have this next lot at an Army Aviation museum,
of course the first military pilots were drafted from the cavalry ranks so perhaps
they do belong. All three of these replicas have flown many Years ago.
Couple more replicas, the DR1 has flown and the chap at the museum told me the
Camel was built to airworthy standard and could fly in theory.
This piece of fabric from the lower wing of Von Richthofen’s DR1.

The museum pretty much has rotary wings well and truly covered.

Nice shots, did you see the MK V Spitfire being rebuilt?
Re: Oakey Army Aviation Museum (Australia)
Yes, she is in some back room or something.
