Todays validation at farnborough was pathetic due to the restrictions. Flypasts across the airport about 1200ft, any manouvering was to the west of the field, a good 3 miles west of the main show area, it was utterly pointless IMHO.
You have misunderstood the situation. The practice/validation was for displays to be flown at Fairford, so the position of the Farnborough show area was irrelevant. As you would expect, the Farnborough show itself will only get a flypast.

Interesting, is that normal? Why would they validate at F’boro, I thought they had to do this at Fairford or is it just a case of doesn’t matter just needs to be in front of the right validation officials? Second point, if only a flypast next week how come the validation contains more movements albeit away from the main display axis?

First point: Correct, it can be at a different location. Second point: The validation at Farnborough was in advance of the full display at Fairford, so it needed to be a full display. The Farnborough show will only get flypasts which (I believe...?) don't require a validation.
