Reds and Typhoons grounded.

Post by pb643 »

We have been notified of a technical issue which may affect the safe operation of our ejector seats in Typhoon and @rafredarrows aircraft. We have paused non-essential flying as a temporary safety precaution until the situation is better understood. https://t.co/iDqOqnw88w

From late this afternoon. Also affecting German Typhoons.

Good job that it is a week later than RIAT

Indeed. The flying display would have looked a bit anaemic without the RSV, Austrian and RAF Typhoons, never mind Reds and Finnish Hawk which all use those seats.

Whilst Hawks are back flying, the issue has now spread to USN Super Hornets/Growlers and USAF F-35A fleets.

It seems to be limited to the Mk16 ejector seat.

Typhoons were back flying as well pdq. Even had a pair of them fly right over my house at low level early yesterday afternoon, which is not exactly a regular occurrence here in South Berkshire, but a very welcome sight and sound none the less :sunglasses:
