Static is fairly poor. So much so I’m having a cuppa in the museum as I’ve already walked it twice.

The majority is the usual base airframes and museum pieces. Most of what has flown in are utterly surrounded by junk. There are eight airframes in the pens but barriers blocking the entry so it’s a no go this year.

To NH90 has a broken gearbox apparently.
2024 shows: Abingdon, Cosford, Sywell, RIAT, Zeltweg with a couple of Duxford and Shutteworth shows thrown into the mix.

I have to say I agree. To the general public they probably think things like the tornados and stuff (which are great to see) are still flying and don’t realise they’ve just wheeled them out all over the airfield. Also the herc all the way at the other end on its own is bizarre. The spitfire is in the middle of a bunch of tents and it just feels very empty in terms of aircraft it’s a massive shame the show has become this

This is not in defence of the show, which does seem very thin, but more a slight defence of the RAF's participation in it:

They are providing the following in the flying display - Typhoon, BBMF, Chinook, RAFAT, Tutor (albeit cancelled), C130, A400M, the Falcons and F-35.

Nowhere else has that level of participation in the air from the RAF, not even RIAT (although RIAT does have a flying KC-3).

Also in there is the Glider demo, which although not to everyone's taste's is still from (nearly, partly - I'm not quite sure) the RAF.

My point being, they (the RAF) couldn't really be providing much more for the flying display than they already are.

That the rest of the line up is pretty poor (a few notable exceptions obviously aside) isn't the fault of the RAF on this occasion (In my opinion of course :-) )

I'm not there, but I hope for the sake of everyone who is that at least what is scheduled to fly now manages to make it in! Have fun.

There's a Skyvan up from Brize heading roughly towards Cosford now. Maybe with the parachutists on board?

Or maybe for some air to airs?

Or maybe nothing to do with Cosford at all?!

*Rivet*

No I know, but there aren't displays available for these aircraft. My point is that the RAF are providing all of their available displays, plus extra, and Cosford can't accommodate large static aircraft any way.

I have to say the organisers are really unlucky this year. They lost the B-17, Catalina, JP, Wildcat, NH-90, Lancaster and Tutor displays.

A single Herc fly past. That’s all they could manage, really?!

Given how long it was holding for, it does seem a shame to have only managed one. They could have left Brize 10 minutes later, not spent that time flying round in circles south of Cosford and done a few more flypasts. (And yes, I know it's not that simple!)

The livestream has been cancelled due to poor WiFi

There were 6 Junos showing on FR24 right over Cosford at about 1045 in the end- did they do a flypast ahead of the show or something?

Don’t they generally use them to ferry the Reds to and from show sites for a ‘meet and greet’?

Possibly transport (taxi service) for the display team pilots (Swiss Jordanian & Reds) to meet the crowds at Cosford.
