Everyone in our group who applied got an acceptance email (one twice lol), and one didn't apply til late May too.

Great news on the CA3, looking forward to seeing that. Just need the Gina now...

I didn’t realise there was a spotter’s day…thought it was media and schools only…

Not complaining…..will give me a good opportunity to try out my naughty terrace. Do we know if the flying programme for Friday is the same as the weekend?

Remember when we went to Payerne on that Wednesday?

I have had an email but I'm not convinced I ever applied for the spotters day... The email reads as follows but doesn't include any sort of reference number or name so it reads like you'd just turn up?

Good afternoon,

First, let us thank you for your welcome interest in the Aeronautica Militare.

We confirm your accreditation on the “Spotter Day”, June 16th, as requested.

You will be allowed to enter Pratica di Mare Air Base (Rome), at the entrance located in Via Arno, on your own vehicle, from 9 a.m.

Please follow the attached circulation instructions while inside the air base.

The air show will end at 7 p.m.

While inside the air base, it will be possible to buy food and drinks at refreshment stalls set up for the occasion.

We suggest you wear a hat and a high-visibility jacket during the air show.

Before starting activities, the staff will provide all necessary information and procedures which will have to be followed strictly.

Best regard,

I'd love to know the shuttle bus times... We're planning on using Castel Romano (purely because the hire car prohibits use on an unpaved surface so don't want risk it on the grass) and I can just see us going to get one back at 7pm only to be met with an Italian shrug and no shuttle bus!

I had planned for an early start but if they don't start running them until the gates open, there's little point.

I'm not expecting an answer haha, I think we've all got to turn up and hope for the best with this one.

I’m not sure how that’s going to work. Every rental car I’ve ever had for airshows overseas (and there have been many, many over the years) has ended up parked on an airfield (or nearby field) at some point in the trip, and I’ve yet to have one spontaneously combust or be spirited away by aliens as a result.

Oh I agree, I was just reading the terms and conditions. I'm definitely just going to use the car parks (hopefully WILL be spirited away by aliens, after the show of course).

We fly out on Thursday, can't wait. Only attending one day but flexible as to which one in order to attempt to get the best of the weather (looking like Sunday at the mo).

If anyone wants to grab a Peroni at the show, drop me a PM, always nice to put some names to faces.

Are they going to repaint the starfighter into something a little more tasteful?

What could be more appropriate for this time of mourning in that nation??

Well quite, I'm sure he's discussed the thrust of his Starfighter on many occasions with the young ladies.

Not sure if the G.91 is DCS or not (start of it looks it, but then the grass and that looks very well defined as it taxis past)

Some rumours about the G.91 flying today are circulating on Whatsapp, but no official confirmation yet.

For those wanting to visit the Italian Air Force Museum in Vigna di Valle, I phoned them this morning, and they told me they will be closed on Thursday. To be sure they are closed, they suggested me to phone them again on Thursday morning in case something changes.

There is another museum, Piana delle Orme near Latina. It is not an aviation-specific museum, but it has few aircraft on display, including the wreck of a Curtiss P-40 which crash landed during the Allied landings in Anzio and Nettuno. Unfortunately, it is open from 9 AM to 2 PM only.

Sadly, it did not fly, just taxi runs.
I highly doubt it will be available for the airshow.

Did someone mention that the event was being televised by one of the RAI TV channels? I've quickly checked through this thread and cannot find any mention of it.

I'd appreciate a reply 'cause Rome is a little too far from the former penal colony to justify a weekend outing to this airshow.

Thanks to anyone who responds with some info.
Cheers,

George
