Cosford Arrivals 2023

Post by JonG96 »

Hi.
Less than two weeks until the show and it's looking interesting.
I know it's probably too early to tell but early weather forecasts are showing a nice day for the Cosford weekend. Fingers crossed.
Interested to hear everyone's plans for arrivals, and which days may be best to attend. From what I remember from last year, Friday was the more active day. Be nice to see some practice displays and the arrival of civilian and international participants. Which days are people thinking of going down to Cosford for the arrivals? Friday, Saturday or both?
What kind of aircraft are you particularly excited to see this year?
It's always great standing at the station and anticipating what is going to turn up next
Just a general discussion about your Cosford plans :grinning:

I'll be on the train station on both the Friday and Saturday! Looking forward to seeing the Patrouille Suisse, RJF and the return of the RN Blackcats at Cosford. I think the Lancaster a d Typhoon is going to be pretty special too. Went on the Saturday last year and missed out on all the good stuff so I'm not taking any risks this year 🤣

I seem to remember that all the good stuff last year was either early or late in the day. I arrived about 10.30 and stayed til about 4.30, and saw almost nothing!
What I can't remember is which day it was!
And as the smart ship grew,
In stature, grace and hue,
In shadowy silent distance grew the iceberg too....

Friday last year had F16 and Rafale display 😍 Think it was the Saturday which didn’t have too much activity 😅

Patrouille Suisse confirmed to me on Instagram that they will be arriving at RAF Shawbury on Wednesday and that Friday will probably be the day they do their practice 😊

I was under the impression that they were using Brize Norton?

Ok thanks! It says 12am and 1am for training and show. I’m guessing it means 12pm and 1pm?

Me too initially after seeing the information on the link that was provided on this thread but that must have changed judging by what was confirmed to me but I guess we wait and see! 😁

There’s a post on Facebook from someone flying in a static aircraft, who says they haven’t been given an arrival slot at Cosford yet. So maybe the disorganised organisers don’t even know which days aircraft will arrive?!

If you're flying in a static aircraft, you'd better hope it's a helicopter....

If that's come from the Swiss timetable, I wouldn't get your hopes up - a similar thing was listed for Duxford on the Thursday before the flying finale last year, but it appeared as though fly over had come from transit flight and got lost in translation.

Then again - maybe they will put in an appearance for you today.
