They added a fake tree line last year
A what? Seriously?

I didn't get to RIAT last year, but have often found some nice views at the Eastern end. It's a little further away, but it can be good for landing shots.

Is this the Typhoon display we're getting? Unsure whether this is the Bavarian Tigers.

Seems a bit of a flat display.
It's the wrong squadron logo on the tail I think. RIAT is due a EF2000 from TLG-74, & I think that logo is TLG-31(? Someone can correct me I'm sure). Also, if that's ILA there's always a chance it might be an EADS test pilot too... 🤷‍♂️

It was like a boundary to the last viewing area before the eastern side. Those areas seem to get more numerous and bigger ! Obviously not huge trees but a line of ‘trees’. Just not great if you can’t get near the front.

The tailbadge is from TLG31 so Norvenich, this seems to not be the TLG74 display, the TLG74 should be displaying this weekend as well during the Tag Den Bundeswehr, meaning that they're there and TLG31 is at ILA.

For anyone wanting to know what the tooled up f15 will be, at the recent spirit of st Louis show it had 12 aim120's on it for the dirty aircraft display.

So with that video then does that mean we are going to get 2 demos one an after another ? Either way the demos look very energetic!

I posed that question initially and was advised by a reliable member that it was one demo a day but agree that video shows differently

Hi mate, i was reading on the confirmed list for the F15s and it does mention that it will be a different airframe per day.

Looking at that video it looks like they are in the two tone camouflage livery but with no Qatar Air Force markings (Like the ones delivered through Mildenhall).

These are the two kept for testing, it would be disappointing to have two without roundels, serials and squadron badges, perhaps a question for HoO are they coming from Boeing or from Qatar?

The tooled up F15 looks the business and the rapid pitch manoeuvres should fluff up nicely in the damp Fairford sky. Looks like they're executed from quite low altitude too meaning there's going to be some great photo opportunities.

They added a fake tree line last year so none of us 'plebs' had a view of the western end! I also position myself on the 'western' side of the 'Eastern end'. Might need a rethink on where to set myself up
Genuinely curious to what you're referring to here, as it's not something I remember ever ever having discussed at work or seeing at the show? I had a look at the aerial photographs today, and can't find anything at either end of the crowdline?

They'll be new airframes on delivery, but my understanding from our meeting with the Boeing team, is that they'll have Qatari roundels & serials applied by the time they arrive at Fairford. One demo of a solo F-15QA per day, yet to be decided which days will be tooled up and which days will be clean.

Yellow Sparrows are brilliant catch, fit in with what the show is about, an enthusiasts show, exactly how it was set up back in 1971 and long may it remain that way.
One of my highlights of the show, can't wait to see the lovely little Safaris!

Cheers,
Peter

Many thanks Peter, just have some big stickers ready just in case! You know it makes the world of difference just for them to look right!

Beautiful scheme, looks new and fresh while keeping what works. Can’t wait to see this. That 50 on the underbelly looks fantastic.

Agree with the comments. Very, very nice. This year's tattoo is looking like an absolute classic. Numerous artistically good special schemes (and a few so so); an impressive F-16 line including several rare nations; a debut factory demo from an advanced fighter; plenty of afterburner action; classic jets; static gems. Good grief, 2025 has a tough job to top this year.

If anybody wants a decent idea for what the F-35B role demo and chinook role demo will look at RIAT like both are performing at Cosford today:
Chinook role demo - 2:15 pm
F-35B role demo - 5:25 pm
Seen a few streams on YouTube if anyone's interested

Apologies! With RIAT approaching and those being confirmed participants, I fell into giving my review before RIAT. You're right though, I should've posted in the Cosford thread!
