They're all fab images, but the trio of vintage jets is...the...best! Wish that I were there.

Cracking set Martin. This show was always a must do! That formation shot is great, but the Hawkeye display was a bit special too. Did you do BAFD KB. also?

Thank you. Unfortunately I did not go to BAFD. It looked like a brilliant show. I could have done. I seriously thought about it but with the comments in other places, it could be the last there at least there for a while, so some regret by not going. Maybe Sanicole which will be a first for me.

Those were taken from the public area, to the left-hand end of the crowdline. You are looking partly into the sun at the start of the afternoon (eg the French Navy Rafale shots) but it moves round behind by about 3-4pm.

More precisely I was in the position shown on the map below.

The end at runway 19 faces north east so I would have been facing roughly east. The sun is still in front of the crowd line at the start of the show but to the right. As the day goes on the sun goes behind the crowd line but with aircraft coming round the corner from the left, they will be coming in from the north so you are more likely to catch the sun on top of the wings earlier than if you were at the other end.

In the image following, in the top left hand corner part you will see the start of the crowd line in yellow.

DS is the fenced off area for the disabled.

PL is where the pleasure flight aircraft are parked up but they are moved out of the way before the flying display. The map itself does not appear to be to scale so they are not actually parked on part of the runway

GB is the small pleasure flight reception/gazebo but the rear frontage is level with the crowd line and none of it live side.

O This is where three officials turned up with three gendarmerie on Saturday and positioned themselves in front just a few minutes before flying started. They did block my view of some of the clear part of the runway to the left but I still managed to get some decent landing shots.

ME - This is where I was positioned. Saturday to the right of GB but on Sunday to the left of GB in order to avoid O blocking part of my view in case they turned up again.

lastly, the blue line is the end of the crowd line where it meets the yellow line and is a boundary with a low fence/hedge which means the crowd line does not extend the full length of the left hand part of the runway. The other part of the blue line is parallel to the runway and is also fence/hedge so much of the runway has clutter blocking a clear view of some aircraft whilst they touch down. However, you will still get some aircraft before they finally touch down, or on the bounce or just ground running after landing after they come in to clear view and it is not as bad as the map looks.

Wow!, what a comprehensive reply to my question. Many thanks for taking the time to reply and construct the very useful points on the map. Greatly appreciated. Hope to see you there in the future, and buy you the beer that I owe you.
