This might be my first ever Duxford. Good support from the RAF. Looking forward to what else will get announced.

Looks like the BBMF Lancaster will be flying with Sally B once again. Assuming BBMF return to flying this year
Famous formations
Witness B-17G 'Sally B' and the RAF's Avro Lancaster in the skies together at Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show, a rare formation of the most recognisable allied heavy bombers of the Second World War.

Just a heads up, rail lines are closed/Bus replacement between London and Cambridge on the weekend of the BoB airshow due to works at Royston. 2nd year in a row on BoB weekend.

London to Cambridge will see trains end in Royston and a bus taking you to Cambridge

https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/engineer ... -20240914/

No trains from Stansted to Cambridge and back at all and will have a bus replacement.

A few more Spitfires added since I last had a look and a few other warbirds as well. Looking ok, not warranting the price tag so far but hopefully a couple more updates to follow.

Now only listing Swordfish - all Seafire displays listed on there have been removed - I don't know what the problem is with it.

Chaps.

I need advice.

I want to go to this, but having put tickets in my basket, there is no available Car Park Passes for Saturday. There’s only Blue Badge passes available.

What to do?

Park at Trumpington and get the shuttle bus in.
Free event shuttle bus:
We are delighted to partner with Stagecoach to provide a free shuttle bus service to Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show ticket holders. This is a busy event and traffic queues can be expected. Leave the car at home or use Park and Ride to help ease travel stress on the day:

Shuttle buses are provided free to all air show visitor ticket holders.
Buses will run from Cambridge train station and Trumpington Park and Ride throughout the day.
The shuttles will run from approx. 8.30am – 1.30pm from Cambridge Train Station and Trumpington Park & Ride.
Shuttles will restart from IWM Duxford for the return journey from 3.30pm.

Free shuttle bus but do you pay to park at Trumpington?

Nope it will be free if you're just parking there to get the bus to and from Duxford as you can park a max of 18 hours before charges apply.
parking charges
It's free to park for up to 18 hours, just pay to ride.
If you are parking longer than 18 hours. charges apply.

Yes, line up seems pretty light right now.

I'd expect a lot of Spitfires soon.

If it's your first time of using it, once the airshow has finished give it 30-45 and you should just walk on to a bus.

I prefer using the park and ride these days.

If Duxford could get on the ringer to the SwAFHF, in the words of Bill Lumbergh 'That'd be great'.

I don't know if you've seen the posts above, the show is looking very light (especially considering the cost of entry is near that of Farnborough).

With the trend of seeing the Swedish Historic flight at the Midlands Air Fest, Eastbourne and now Bournemouth, it would really add to the value of the ticket.

Also, why shouldn't an airshow have the Viggen or Draken? Well, I guess if you’re not interested in showcasing two of the most iconic and revolutionary fighter jets of the 20th and early 21st centuries, then sure, skip them. Who needs the Viggen's thunderous presence or the Draken spitting flames? Why bother to push the boat out, when you could just stick to the usual filler line up.

The clue is in the title, it's the Battle of Britain show, hence not a fast jet fest. The BoB show has a Typhoon and F-35 and that's more than enough noisy pointy things for a Duxford air show. The Swedes would be more suitable for the Flying Finale in October.

That's a valid point.

But I suppose usually not every aircraft at themed shows have to match.(i.e 2022 RIAT US anniversary, or the Battle Of Britain show in 2019 a Mig-15/T-33).

I mean if we go off the basis of the Battle of Britain theme none of the spitfires would fly as none of them had any input to the conflict

The show is to commemorate the Battle of Britain, not necessarily to have every participant connected to it. It’s not a theme in that way.

The Swedes would be out of context, but not because they’re jets.

A Czech Gripen or Polish F16 would be more apt... wishful thinking perhaps!
